Cantorial soloist Fran Ross will be leading Keneseth Israel’s Junior Congregation and Family services with songs and storytelling during the two mornings of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur.

For over two decades, the Peoria, IL, mother of four has acted, sung and taught across the United States including appearances at Carnegie Hall and for former First Lady, Lady Bird Johnson. She has also studied and sung with Debbie Friedman and Oscar winner Theodore Bikel Ross’ Emmy was awarded during her seven years on the CBS-TV children’s show, The Magic Door. She has also been seen on PBS-TV as part of its Ready to Learn series.

Keneseth Israel describes itself on holding on to the past while bringing in the best of modern times. As part of that continuing effort, K.I. feels it is most important to have two kinds of High Holy Day services.

The traditional services are for members and guests versed in the ebb and flow of what has developed over thousands of years.

The Junior Congregation and Family services are designed for younger members to get a comfortable feel for how the various prayers and songs have come to be.
