KCD Theater to present ‘Fiddler’ in February

The KCD Theater will present Fiddler on the Roof, the famed Broadway musical about life in the Russian Pale of Settlement, during February at Kentucky Country Day School.

Based on the stories by Yiddish writer Sholem Aleichem, and set in 1905 czarist Russia, the play tells the story of Tevye the Dairyman, played by Jake Latts, the father of five daughters, who attempts to maintain his Jewish religious and cultural traditions as the outside world encroaches upon the family’s lives. Tevye’s wife, Golda (Sarah Hyman), also weighs in on the traditions. The Fiddler is played by Kerrigan Lohman.

Kate Scinta is the director for this production of Fiddler. Karen Welsh is the music director; David and Diane Thurmond, the choreographers; Rudy Keel, the technical director.

A free community service dress rehearsal will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, February 9, at KCD. Performances are slated for February 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m., and February 12 at 2 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at kcdtheater.org for $8 for students and seniors, and $12 for adults.

Kentucky Country Day School is located at 4100 Springdale Road, Louisville.
