Visit the first ever Canorah at JFCS
On December 18, a menorah made of canned goods (depicted above) was built in the JFCS lobby. Everyone is invited to come finish the Canorah and see it lit on Wednesday, December 28 at 4 p.m. All canned goods will be donated to the JFCS Food Pantry. The Canorah portion of the Family Mitzvah event is co-sponsored by Chabad of Kentucky.

Shabbos Friends Volunteers
Shabbos Friends volunteers are needed to visit just one nursing facility on the 1st or 3rd Friday of each month, to share the Sabbath blessings, fresh challah and spiritual joy with Jewish residents living there. Help Share Your Expertise

JFCS Food Pantry Items Needed
Food Pantry suggestions for January – Coffee, tea, hot chocolate mix, vegetable juices, fruit juices. All donated food must be in its original packaging. Please do not donate expired items as they cannot be distributed. Contact Shelley Kahn at ext. 103 or skahn@jfcslouisville.org.

Volunteer Opportunities at JFCS
•    Looking for an individual who would be willing to visit a nursing home on the third Friday of each month to celebrate the Sabbath. The facility is in the Lyndon area. Training and all materials are provided.
•    Looking for a driver to pick up a challah order on the first Friday or the third Friday of the month at The Bakery on Bardstown Rd at 9 a.m. and bring the order to JFCS.
•    Looking for a woman to visit a senior woman once a month who is home alone in Middletown all weekdays.
•    Looking for a kind individual to make a monthly home visit to a senior man who needs some companionship.
•    Mentor a new business owner.
•    Drive one senior once a month to a doctor’s appointment.
•    Assist a retired teacher to finish typing his book.

Adoption Fair
January 29, 1-4 p.m.
Brooklawn, 2125 Goldsmith Lane
The fair will include information on domestic, international and special needs adoptions, and will offer workshops on how to get started with the process. Event sponsored by WLKY-TV, Wednesday’s Child, and local adoption agencies.

Reminder:  Now Offering Wheelchair-Accessible Transportation!
JFCS has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.  A round trip fee is just $15. A one-time-only program assessment fee is $50. This service may be used for medical purposes or can be used for errands or more social needs.
