A group of JFCS staff members and volunteers attended the annual Association of Jewish Family and Children’s Agencies (AJFCA) Conference and received national recognition for some of its programs.
Mauri Malka participated on a panel related to JFCS’s Senior Concierge HomeCare Program and received excellent evaluations and feedback.
JFCS won a KOVOD award in the area of connecting Judaism to programming for the Doris L. and Theodore B. Meyers Shabbbos Friends Program. This innovative volunteer program pairs volunteers with residents of assisted living facilities for a once per month Shabbat celebration. The program, named by Carole Snyder and Sara Yamin for their parents/grandparents, is much appreciated by both the volunteers and residents.
JFCS also received other honors: Executive Director Judy Freundlich Tiell was honored by AJFCA with its distinguished service award. She also received the Bernie Rosenthal (named after a director from the Cincinnati JFC) Executive Director award from IAJVS. This award, honors an executive director who has provided outstanding service and leadership in a JFCS agency for the benefit of clients and colleagues.
The convention was held in Houston in partnership with the International Association of Jewish Vocational Services (IAJVS), and it provided excellent sessions covering a wide range of subjects of interest to professional and volunteer leaders of non- profit Jewish organizations.
Debbie Friedman, who became JFCS president on May 22, after the convention, attended and said,” I was able to attend a variety of sessions and learned a lot from experiences in other cities. We are very proud of our Louisville JFCS and were well represented at the national program.”
