JCL to Distribute $24,000 to Help Tornado Victims

The Jewish Community Relations Council has reported that the Jewish Community of Louisville has raised over $24,000 for relief for the victims of this spring’s tornados. Donations have come in from all over the world.

To date, $5,000 was given to Nechama, a Jewish emergency response organization that was on the ground in West Liberty, KY for about two weeks.

The JCRC has also approved grants of $2,500 each for Dare to Care and Metro United Way.

The remaining money, nearly $15,000, will be given to Henryville Hope, an organization started by a pastor in that community to assist in building homes for those who had no insurance.

Ayala Golding is the JCRC chair and Matt Goldberg is the JCRC director.
