JCC To Host BBYO Regional Basketball Tournament Labor Day Weekend

After a five-year absence, the BBYO Regional Basketball Tournament is returning to Louisville. The annual boys basketball tournament will take place over Labor Day weekend during a BBYO regional program. Hundreds of teens will converge on Louisville from Indianapolis, IN, and Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati, OH.

The Louisville AZA squad is trying to continue their four-year reign as Regional Basketball Tournament Champions as they return seven players from last year’s championship team: Ben Humphrey, Benjamin Koby, Jonathan Lustig, Jordan Roth, Matthew Schulman, Andrew Segal and Jacob Spielberg. They will face off against other teams from around the region during the two-day competition.

On Sunday, September 4, the teams will warm up with scrimmages before the single-elimination tournament on Monday, September 5. The public is invited to come and support the Louisville team. Tournament action starts at 9:30 a.m.

The basketball tournament is part of a larger weekend. On Friday, September 2, and Saturday, September 3, BBYO’s teen leaders will meet for a regional roundtable.  BBG, the girls division of BBYO, will also hold a sisterhood weekend during the AZA basketball tournament.

Following the tournament, the teens will enjoy a cookout at the JCC. Volunteers are needed to help grill. You can contact Justin Sadle with questions or to sign up at jsadle@jewishlouisville.org or (502) 238-2778.
