JCC Takes Workouts to the Next Level with TRX Suspension Training

LOUISVILLE, KY (Sept. 21, 2012) – The Jewish Community Center of Louisville is taking workouts to the next level with TRX, the revolutionary new group training program. Using Suspension Training bodyweight exercises, TRX develops strength, balance, flexibility and core stability at the same time. The workout begins October 11th.

Using a person’s body weight and gravity, the TRX Suspension TrainerTM allows for hundreds of exercises, all led by a certified trainer. Randy Hetrick, a former Navy SEAL, created TRX because Hetrick and his SEAL teammates needed a way to stay in peak physical readiness while deployed in the field. Everyone from professional athletes such as Drew Brees and the Liverpool Football Club to all branches of the U.S. military and weekend warriors at home uses TRX Training.

“We are very excited to bring this next level workout to the JCC for our members,” said Sr. Director of Membership and Fitness Larry Mestel. “We are trying to expand our group fitness options and TRX offers a flexible way of adding a strength routine to a workout.”

“TRX training appeals to both men and women because users can control just how challenging they want each exercise to be,” said TRX CEO, Randy Hetrick. “Today’s fast-paced lifestyle often makes it difficult to fit in a quality workout. With Suspension Training, you get a fun, effective, total body workout in 25 minutes. This makes it much easier for people to incorporate fitness into their daily lives.”

TRX classes are open to JCC members only. Tuesday/Thursday classes run from Oct. 11-Nov. 20 at Noon and 5:30 p.m. Thursday only classes run Oct. 11-Jan. 3 at 5:30 p.m. Monday/Wednesday classes begin Oct. 15-Nov. 21 at 10:30 a.m. or 5:30 p.m. All classes cost $180 for 13 sessions. To register, call the JCC’s Health and Wellness desk at 502-238-2727.

TRX is the latest addition to the JCC’s fitness options. In September, the JCC introduced nine Les Mills BODYPUMP classes per week. In August, a new XerPro SportWall was added to the Upper Gym. The SportWall adds a competitive challenge to fitness.
