JCC Awarded Grant from Meals On Wheels Association of America

The Jewish Community Center of Louisville announced it is honored to accept a 2012 Jack and Eleanor Borden Memorial Kosher Meal Fund Grant from the Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA). The JCC’s Senior Adult Nutrition Program  received $1,000 toward its kosher meal program.

“This grant means so much to our program,” said Senior Adult Director Diane Sadle. “The need for our home delivered meals program continues to grow. This grant will enable us to increase the supply of shelf-stable and frozen meals for our homebound clients in case of emergencies. Support from the Meals on Wheels Association and our community makes a tremendous difference in the lives of the clients we serve.”

“What is so important about our Meals on Wheels programs is that they allow seniors to maintain their independence,” explained MOWAA President and CEO Enid A. Borden. “A significant part of that is being able to uphold traditions. I’m proud that MOWAA is awarding these funds in my parents’ name.”

The JCC’s Senior Adult Nutrition Program is the only kosher Meals On Wheels program in Kentucky. Through this program, homebound seniors receive meals five days a week. For many clients, the person who delivers the meals is the only human contact they have throughout the day.
