The family of Holocaust survivors Ida and Bernhard Behr understood only too well the painful lessons of the Shoah, and they wanted to teach youngsters about this tragic event so it will never be repeated. They created the Behr fund to send youngsters in grades six through 12 to the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. To be considered for the trip, students must write an essay and agree to share what they learn with peers in the community. A Holocaust educator accompanies them to the museum.
Your donation to the Ida and Bernhard Behr Holocaust Memorial Education Fund can increase the number of teens able to participate in the program. Or, you can satisfy your own philanthropic goals by establishing a fund with the Foundation. Contact Stew Bromberg at 238-2755 or sbromberg@jewishlouisville.org.
