Hillel Shows Israel TV Series

[Archived from June 5, 2009]

College students have very busy schedules. They have to choose their extracurricular activities carefully. On the metroversity campuses in Louisville, there is a group of Jewish students who choose to spend part of their limited free time participating in Hillel activities.

This semester, the group gathered three different times to watch eight episodes an Israeli TV series called “A Touch Away,” a love story about an Orthodox girl and a secular Russian immigrant in Israel.

The series began in February when The Temple hosted the first gathering, providing dinner, and Rabbi David Ariel-Joel introduced the series. Josh Sabes hosted the subsequent events and Hillel provided pizza.

The final event was Thursday, May 21.

Hillel, located in the Interfaith Center on the University of Louisville Belknap Campus, provides a comfortable place for Jewish students to meet. It also serves as a Jewish presence on campus, speaking up for the interests of the Jewish community and providing educational materials and support for students to stand up to anti-Semitism and anti-Israel activities when needed.
