Join our Temple family for a creative candle-light Selichot Service in the Waller Chapel, led by Rabbi Gaylia R. Rooks with The Temple Congregational Choir – Shir Chadash. Selichot is usually observed on the Saturday night just prior to Rosh Hashanah, a solemn and fitting preparation for ten days of reflection and self- examination.
This year Selichot comes a week earlier because of the tradition that we must have a minimum of three days between this overture and the beginning of the Days of Awe. Time to prepare our hearts and our souls, time to go to others and ask for their forgiveness, time to stand before the Eternal One and take an accounting of our lives in the year that is ending. This year Selichot will be a moving and meaningful musical experience of introspection to lead us into our sacred holy days.
