Restaurant Secrets – Knife Skills, Technique & Ramen

November 19, 2015 @ 8:00 am - 7:00 pm

$43

Ever wonder how restaurant Chefs coax so much flavor from simple vegetables?

What’s a Japanese mirepoix and why does it matter?

And just what exactly is a chiffonade, mince & dice? How do I do it without losing a finger?

Roll up your sleeves and join us for an evening with culinary insider Sasha Chack, professional cook and former owner of Mason & Mug Restaurant in Brooklyn, NY.

This class and demonstration will cover some of the basics that make cooking more fun and less of a chore. Even a tiny bit of instruction and practice can mean the difference between getting food on the table faster and not having a burnt mess on the bottom of your pan.

For the first half of the class each attendee will have their own station with cutting board and knife; we’ll chop, dice and learn proper knife skills and technique. Then, for the second half of the class relax with a glass of wine and get ready for dinner, as Sasha demonstrates how to create a flavorful Japanese ramen soup with miso, kombu & ginger, a perfect recipe for winter.

AVAILABILITY LIMITED TO 10 GUESTS!

Ticket price covers all materials, ingredients, equipment, ticketing fees and includes red & white wine and dinner.
