One of Chef Uri’s core values is to promote multicultural culinary initiatives. In partnership with a Christian chef and a Muslim chef, Uri opened Roots, a kosher restaurant in Akko. The menu, featuring Levantine cuisine, was developed with the culinary influences of all its partners.

The Jewish Federation of Louisville is thrilled to have Chef Uri visiting from the Western Galilee, our Partnership2Gether region of Israel. The region is home to many cultures and has a history of working together to have meaningful dialogue and promoting coexistence.

Chef Noam Bilitzer:
Louisville, Kentucky, USA
MeeshMeesh Mediterranean
Recently nominated for James Beard’s Best Chef in the Southeast. Noam draws inspiration from his global heritage, with a focus on flavor and sustainability.

In creating MeeshMeesh, Chef Noam dreamt of a space for community where everyone can break bread and gather over chef-driven dishes that are perfect for sharing and experiencing together. The name MeeshMeesh means apricot in both Arabic and Hebrew. An Israel native, Chef Noam highlights the unique flavors and influences from his childhood in The Levant region, which has a rich history, where the food has evolved over time with the blending of cultures that have all called the region home.

In addition to donating his time, we are grateful to Noam’s additional support of coexistence and shared society programs in the Western Galilee.

A special thank you to Dara Woods, Event Chair, and Committee Members: Becky Admony, Angela Katz, Lisa Klein, Robert Klein, Tamar Schwartz, Linda Spielberg, and Howard Wagner.

Dinner Includes:  Multi-course meal, Complimentary drinks, Q&A with our chefs, Meet and hear from our ShinShinim, Kyla and Eden.

We look forward to seeing you there and supporting a great cause!

The ShinShinim program is a year-of-service initiative that allows Israeli high school graduates to delay mandatory service in the Israel Defense Forces and instead serve Diaspora communities. Part of the work of the ShinShinim is forming personal connections with members of our Jewish community and the broader Louisville community, to educate about the people of Israel beyond what is heard on the news.
