Louisville Jewish Film Festival – The Unorthodox
February 9, 2020 @ 2:00 pm

The Unorthodox
A fast-paced and sometimes humorous story about underdogs. In 1983, Yaakov Cohen, a Jerusalem widower with no money, political experience or connection is incited to act when his daughter is expelled from a religious school for being Sephardic. Yaakov and his friends unite to form the ultra-Orthodox Shas Party. Their efforts reshape Israeli society in ways that still resonate today.
