JOFEE Text Study

January 9, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Join us in the J library for a series of text studies and discussions focusing on various topics related to the outdoors, food, and the environment.  This is an ongoing monthly series with the following dates currently scheduled: January 9th, February 6th, March 6th, April 3rd, and May 8th.  Topics are subject to change.

In this first session, we will explore some of the fundamental Jewish texts on caring for the earth, responding to hunger in our communities, expressing ethical values through food choices, and understanding ourselves as part of a multigenerational community.  All are welcome, regardless of background or previous Jewish learning experience!

Topics:

January 9th: Foundational JOFEE Texts

February 6th: Agriculture in Ancient Israel

March 6th: Understanding Leviticus and the Sacrificial System

April 3rd: Communal Responsibility and the Environment

May 8th: Shmitta: Release for the Land and the Self
