Drop-off Donation Event to Assist Afghan Evacuees

An event every day that begins at 6:00 pm, repeating indefinitely
One event on November 4, 2021 at 6:00 pm
November 4th, from 1:30-3:30 PM and at 6-8 PM at the Anshei Sfard building, The Jewish Federation will collect clothes, dishes, and other small kitchenware for incoming Afghan evacuees. If you wish to donate, we will store items in the small sanctuary of the Anshei Sfard building and arrange for a Kentucky Refugee Ministries (KRM) truck to pick them up.
Items needed are:
Household Items
- Dishes (plates and bowls)
- Cutlery/utensils
- Bed linens: blankets, sheets, pillowcases (each set bagged and labeled by size)
- Towels: bath and kitchen
- Alarm clocks
- Baking sheets
- Small kitchen appliances
- Can openers
- Cleaning supplies
- Paper towels
- Toilet paper
- Laundry detergent
- Shower curtains and rings
- Toiletries (deodorant, soap, shampoo, conditioner, razors, lotion, menstrual products, etc.)
Seasonal Items and Misc.
- Winter coats/jackets
- Gloves and mittens
- Warm hats
- Scarves
- Bicycle locks, lights, and/or helmets
- Small wallets
Items in bold are the most needed items.
Please bring items to the “Sports Door” on the far side of Anshei Sfard, where Jeff Jamner and other volunteers will be there to receive your donations. Please wear a mask. No RSVP is required.
The refugees will also need community support in the form of greeting them at the airport, assisting them with transportation to appointments, practicing English, and other opportunities to volunteer and work directly with them.
