In recognition of his community service, volunteerism, involvement in the Democratic Party, mentoring of Democrats across Kentucky, fundraising and financial support, the Louisville/Jefferson County Democratic Executive Committee presented the John W. Crimmins Award to Carl Bensinger on May 7.
Bensinger has been volunteering for the Democratic Party for over 40 years. He is currently serving on the Louisville/Jefferson County Democratic Executive Committee and has worked on local, state and national committees as well.
“I’ve attended every national Democratic Convention since 1972, with the exception of one,” he said.
In addition, he’s served as an advisor to most local and many national Democratic office holders. While continuing his full-time practice of law, he serves as the party’s legal counsel and Rules Committee chair. In the past, he has also served as the Bylaws Committee chair.
“It was a complete surprise,” Bensinger said. “I’m extremely humbled and honored that all the people I’ve worked with in the local and state Democratic Party thought enough of me to give me this award.”
