Founded in 1856, the synagogue was located in downtown Louisville until the relocation to the Highlands in 1957. Rabbi Robert B. Slosberg has been the rabbi of the congregation since 1981. Cantor David A. Lipp was named Hazzan in 1994.  An extensive renovation of the entire building was completed in 2013.

Shabbat Services are held at 9:30 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. Daily minyan is held at 7:15 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. Sunday and holiday minyan services are held at 8:45 a.m. and 5:45 p.m.

Youth

Mini-Minyan
Programs for parents and their toddlers, preschoolers and early-elementary age children.

Short & Sweet Jr. Congregation
Monthly Shabbat service for parents and students in grades one through seven.

B’nai Mitzvah Training
Students receive training for their bar/bat mitzvah to take place at the traditional age of 13.  Supplemental Hebrew tutoring is provided free of charge for AJ students in need of additional learning.

Confirmation Classes
Classes are held for 10th graders in preparation for the Confirmation ceremony celebrating the completion of ten years of religious study.

Camp Ramah
The Conservative Movement sponsors this camp for Jewish youth, ages 10–17.  Adath Jeshurun campers attend Camp Ramah in Wisconsin.  Scholarships are available.

Special Events

Holiday Programs

Special events celebrating Jewish holidays include Simchat Torah celebrations, community passover seders, Purim plays, Hanukah programs, Sushi in the Sukkah, holiday art classes, baking classes and much more.

Educational Programs

The congregation offers a variety of adult education classes including Beginning Hebrew Reading, Conversational Hebrew, Lunch & Learn Talmud Study, Shabbat Scholar Sessions, Shabbat Text Study, and a variety of lectures.

Music Programs
Cantor David Lipp produces an annual music festival including guest cantors, a community choir, and local musicians for a festive evening of sacred and popular music.  Throughout the year, additional mini-concerts are held at the Glenview and at other local venues.

Congregation Israel Trips
Personally led by Rabbi Robert Slosberg, who has traveled to Israel more than 25 times.

Live from NY’s 92nd Street Y

Live broadcasts are shown via satellite including interviews of educational and cultural interest for interactive discussions.
