Congregation Anshei Sfard, founded in 1892, is a full-service Orthodox synagogue committed to making a traditional Jewish way of life accessible and enjoyable to all. Members consider the synagogue a family and a place where friendships are made, simchas are celebrated, and where they can find refuge from the pressures of modern day life.

Congregation Anshei Sfard offers services three times a day in addition to services every Shabbos and Yom Tov. The main sanctuary is beautifully designed with a mechitza that separates the men and women while allowing both to fully view and enjoy the service. The service is traditionally Ashkenazic despite the Sephardic name. The use of the Artscroll Siddur and Chumash makes each service an occasion for learning as well as prayer.

Anshei Sfard provides a full Kiddush following services on Shabbos and a third meal (called Shalosh Seudos) after the Mincha and before the Maariv service.

Services are held weekday mornings at 7 a.m., Shabbos morning at 9 a.m., Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m., and every evening at 20 minutes before sunset.

Social Programming

Congregation Anshei Sfard offers many social opportunities. Every four weeks, the synagogue offers a sit-down kiddush luncheon following Shabbos service. Annual events include: Yom Kippur Break-Fast, Simchas Torah celebration, adult education Lecture Series, Chanukah dinner, Shavous dinner Learn-A-Thon, children’s Purim activities and a family picnic.

Jewish Education

Congregation Anshei Sfard offers many opportunities for Jewish edu-cation. Rabbi Avrohom Litvin leads an introductory Torah class every Shabbos and a group of dedicated lay leaders assist in educational programs at other times. The Annual Lecture Series features out-of-town speakers who share their particular area of expertise with the participants.

Other Resources

The Anshei Sfard library is a center for books on Judaica, history, law, philosophy, sociology, literature and Israel. The congregation maintains a fully stocked Judaica gift shop where a wide variety of Jewish-related items and gifts may be purchased. There is a full-service, 600-square-foot kosher kitchen and food preparation area and banquet facilities to serve over 300 people.

Anshei Sfard congregants welcome new members and are able to offer home hospitality to out-of-town guests.
