Chanukah Party Promises Hot Lunch, Family Fun and Shalom Sesame

Celebrate Chanukah with your family this Sunday, December 5, at Adath Jeshurun. After a hot lunch at 12:30 p.m. children from preschoolers to preteens will be able to choose from a variety of activities, including making real candles, playing dancing doughnuts, coloring stained glass, customizing dreidels, icing cookies, creating edible menorahs and more.

 

At 2 get ready for a taste of the Israeli version of Sesame Street – Shalom Sesame’s Chanukah episode from the 92nd Street Y. Shalom Sesame is a new a DVD series set on Rechov Sumsum, a street in Israel, in a Sesame-created neighborhood with a mix of Israelis. Religious and secular, Russian and Ethiopian immigrants, Jews and Arabs, adults and children living alongside a cast of Muppets – including Oscar the Grouch’s Israeli cousin, Moishe Oofnik.

There is no charge for the Shalom Sesame presentation, but if you come for lunch and the Chanukah party, admission is $7 for adults and $4 for children plus $5 per family. Make your reservations at www.adathjeshurun.com/hanukah or call the AJ office, 458-5359, with your credit card information.
