Attend Performance of Kite Runner and Help Pakistani Flood Victims

Torrential monsoon rains in Pakistan have caused devastating flooding. On Tuesday, August 17, the New York Times reported that as many as 8.5 million people have been affected in Punjab. Survivors have lost everything – their homes, businesses, livestock, crops. Even food and clean water are not available in some places.

And, still, the water rises. Doctors without Borders reports that this is the worst flooding in Pakistan 80 years. Monsoon season continues through mid-September.

It is incumbent upon us, as Jews, to reach out and do what we can to help.

The Jewish Community of Louisville, through the Community Relations Council, has developed a close relationship with the local Pakistani community and the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of Kentucky and Indiana (APPKI) in particular. We have partnered with APPKI on work done of behalf of the victims of the Haiti earthquake, and continue to partner with them on a variety of projects and programs around Louisville.

Now, APPKI, working with Actors Theatre of Louisville has arranged for a special benefit performance of Kite Runner on Saturday, September 25, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $70 for prime seating, $55 for mid price. For each ticket purchased before noon on September 2, $20 goes to flood relief. Order online by clicking here or call 585-1210. Please use the Entourage Discount Code APPKI.

The CRC encourages the community to attend this special performance.
