AJ Scholar in Residence

Rabbi David Golinkin will be the scholar-in-residence at Congregation Adath Jeshurun for Shabbat, February 5 and 6. On Friday at 8 p.m., following the Minyanaire Dinner, he will speak about, “Why Can’t I Pray, and What Can I Do about It?”

Saturday morning, during the 9:15 service, he will address, “Whatever Happened to the Ten Commandments?” The lecture series will conclude on Saturday following a kiddush lunch on “Jewish Medical Ethics.”

Rabbi Golinkin is President and Professor of Jewish Law at the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem. He is also Director of the Center for Women in Jewish Law at the Schechter Institute whose goal is to find halachic (Jewish legal) solutions for agunot or “chained women” who are unable to obtain a divorce from their husbands.

The community is invited to all these events. Erev Shabbat services are at 5:45 p.m. Friday. The dinner will follow at 6:45. The cost for the dinner is $18 for Minyanaires and $25 for all others.
