Adult Experience classes start again in January

Participants of the JCC’s adult experience classes loved the fall classes so much, the JCC is bringing many back for thew winter.

They raved about the courses in their end-of-session evaluations. “The class and teacher were outstanding. It gave me a lot of knowledge and I look forward to participating in another class,” wrote a member of the silk painting for beginner class.

Another wrote “The group was an excellent size and each student received personal attention from the teacher. Of course I will keep going.” The JCC is bringing back seven  courses – which range from watercolor to ballroom dancing – will be offered at a discount to JCC members. Even though they’re taught by experts, they’re all appropriate for beginners.

There’s also a book club that meets the last Monday of the month at 11 a.m. in the JCC library. The club, which is free of charge, will read My Beloved World by Sonia Sotomayor for its Jan. 27 meeting.

The intermediate silk painting class is a new offering. During that class, students will complete one big project — a long scarf — using skills gleaned from the beginning class.

Watercolor classes are taught by one of the JCC’s favorite instructors, Sue Huttenlocher, Slava Nelson, cultural arts director, said the arts classes will now have a dedicated studio in the JCC, so students will be able to work on their projects outside of dedicated class time.

Many of the supplies for the classes are provided thanks to a grant from the Kentucky Arts Council.
