2013 Winter Camp

We’ll celebrate Winter Break Camp with crafts, sports and lots of exciting activities.

Children in grades K-5 will swim daily!

General Camp Information

Monday December 23: I’ll be an Artist
Making art is tons of fun. Spend the day with us as we draw, paint and build sculptures.

Tuesday December 24: I’ll be a Chef
Bon Appetite, I’m a chef. We will use food to create edible jewelry, art projects and fun things to eat.

Thursday December 26: I’ll be an Athlete
Ready, Set, Go! Today will be filled with sports and more. Shoot hoops, jump rope and build our athletic strength. Grades K-5 will visit the Louisville Slugger Museum.

Friday December 27: I’ll be an Archeologist
Hidden artifacts at the JCC needs to be found. Learn what it’s like to be an archeologist as we dig to find the hidden treasure and dinosaur bones, make fossils and more.

Monday December 30: I’ll be a Magician
Abracadabra, I’m a magician. We will learn magic tricks and create illusions. Special performance by guest magician Steve-O!

Tuesday December 31: I’ll be a Scientist
Join us for a day full of science expeditions. We will navigate the world of science in a fun, messy, ooey, gooey way. Campers will engage in a variety of science experiments and experiences that combine the gooiest and ooeist of materials.

Thursday January 2: I’ll be a Police Officer
Being a police officer is hard work. We will solve mysteries and campers will meet a Louisville Metro Police officer.

Friday January 3: I’ll be a Musician
Musicians are really cool people. Join us as we play with different musical instruments, sing, create instruments and find the rock star within.

Preschool Campers (20 months – 4 years)
Time:     9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
(Drop-off/pick-up in J-Tots rooms)

What to Bring:
• Wipes and diapers, if necessary.
• Lunch daily, snack is provided.
• Extra change of clothes in backpack.
• Clearly label child’s name on all items.

K-5 Campers
Time:  9 a.m. – 3 p.m. (Snack is provided)
(Drop-off/pick-up in Room 1)

What to Bring:
• Lunch daily.
• Swimsuit & towel daily.

EXTENDED DAY OPTIONS
Get Up Gang                             7:30 a.m. – 9 a.m.
Stay ‘N Play (K-5 campers only)   3 p.m. – 6 p.m.


Specialty Camp Information

January 2-3 | “Bricks 4 Girlz” Workshop
Grades 1-5
Time: 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Snack is provided

Introducing LEGO’s newest line of girl-theme models. Bring your friends for two days of girls-only creating with LEGO bricks. Build houses, cafes and more with Olivia and all of her friends. We’ll make lots of unique things with LEGO’s bricks, from jewelry making to brick art, with a take-home project each day. And don’t worry….NO BOYS ALLOWED!

January 2-3 | Factory Fun
Grades 1-5

Time: 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Snack is provided
Factories rely on special machines to help build, move and package the things we use every day. Come build kid-sized versions of these clever creations including; a scissor lift, conveyor belts and even a robot, all with LEGO bricks. You will be inspired to invent your own machines and add to our factory.

Extended Day
Specialty Camps Activities will include: swimming, sports & fun in the gym.
Time: Noon-3 p.m.

What to bring:
• Lunch daily
• Swimsuit & towel daily

Fees per day:
$25, $15 for JCC Members
