Studio Art

From beginning painting to life drawing, from pastels to watercolors, from real life to portraits, the Jewish Community Center’s Studio Art Classes under supervision of our qualified instructor, are designed to nurture talents, widen horizons, and enrich the lives of our students.

Sue Huttenlocher received her Bachelor of Arts degree from UofL in 1982 concentrating in painting. She has been a Continuing Education Instructor since 1975 and has served as president of the Kentucky Watercolor Society where she has won many awards.

Intro to Acrylic Painting
Come learn the basic skills needed to paint with acrylics and receive an introduction to color.
Mondays 10 a.m.-Noon

Learn the unique nature of watercolor. Find the fun in learning to paint. Beginners are welcome.

Conversational Hebrew

March 20-May 29
Learn to speak modern, conversational Hebrew in a social atmosphere. Learn Hebrew naturally by starting with familiar objects to develop vocabulary. Classes will be taught by Dafna Schurr. This class is ideal if you want to learn to talk with Israeli friends or family, if you’re planning a trip to the Holy Land or simply interested in this beautiful language.
Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m., 12 Sessions, Fee: $150, $120 JCC Members

Ballroom Dancing

March 10-April 14
When the music starts, don’t sit and watch! In six sessions, learn the basics so you know what to do on the dance floor.
Mondays at 6:45 p.m., Fee: $70, $55 JCC Members, all fees are per person.


The Goldstein-Leibson Scholar-In-Residence program presents nationally recognized scholars and educators who lecture on a variety of Jewish themes and subject matters. Through funds established at the JCC and the Foundation for Planned Giving, Nicole and David Goldstein and Phyllis and David Leibson offer free Jewish education to the community.
