Community, the official newspaper of the Jewish community of Louisville, was founded in 1975 and has a circulation of 5,800 households, including all members of the Jewish Community Center, and a readership equal to the 8,600 Jewish residents of greater Louisville.

Published monthly, Community includes a wide range of local, national and international news articles, features, stories, editorials and reviews.

The newspaper is committed to providing coverage of major local events and includes reviews of books, plays, films and art exhibitions of Jewish interest. It also includes a column in Russian to help new immigrants learn about the community and community events.

Special sections are issued throughout the year to keep the community up-to-date on topics of interest. Teen news and information about the local agencies, synagogues and temples are also included. There is no charge for Lifecycle and Newsmaker items. Adding a photo is just $5. Deadline: one week before the publication date. Advertising is sold in a variety of sizes to meet customers’ needs. Lifecycle Announcements and Newsmaker Items

Community invites Louisville Jewish community members to submit lifecycle events and newsmaker items for publication in the newspaper. All lifecycle events and newsmaker items must be submitted in writing. the announcements and accompanying photos may be e-mailed to jccnews@jewishlouisville.org or mailed to Community, 3600 Dutchmans Lane, Louisville, KY 40205, or faxed to (502) 238-2724.

Announcements that contain only basic information – name, date, time and place – without elaboration, are printed free of charge.

You can mail a photo and Lifecycle announcement digitally by emailing jccnews@jewishlouisville.org.

Community reserves the right to edit items to conform to newspaper style or for any other reason, and the right not to print any item.

Keep Your College Student Connected

Each year, the Federation requests the names and addresses of college students studying in other cities so they may stay connected by means of Community, our Jewish newspaper, sent to them every other week.

Subscriptions for college students are free. Since college students often change addresses, these subscriptions only last one year, but they are renewable. Click here for details.

Community is delivered free of charge to all members of the Jewish community who live in the Louisville metropolitan area, are donors to the Campaign, are members of the JCC or are Jewish Louisvillians attending college anywhere in the United States. All others pay a $26 subscription fee.
